Commis Chef, The Royal Dornoch Hotel

Our hotel in Dornoch is located just a few yards from the first tee at Royal Dornoch Golf Club, and overlooks the beach and Dornoch Firth. A golfers paradise, some might say!

With 22 guest rooms and 12 luxury apartments, we also have one restaurant that creates exciting and seasonally changing dishes with an emphasis on fresh local ingredients. Guests can enjoy speciality gins and the finest whisky’s in our bar and lounge or al fresco in the garden overlooking the links at Royal Dornoch Golf Club.

The Position

We are recruiting a seasonal Commis Chef on a fixed-term contract from March to October.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Chef to learn and develop their skills in food preparation and basic cooking, under the supervision of our Chef de Partie and Head Chef.
Your duties will include preparing ingredients for our senior chefs, ensuring portions sizes are measured accurately, dealing with deliveries and stock rotation, and maintaining high standards of hygiene. Through our core values you will be part of a team responsible for implementing and maintaining service standards; ensuring an authentic Highland hospitality experience for our guests.

The successful person will have experience in a similar role within hospitality.
You will have enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge in the kitchen
Organised and an effective communicator
You will be passionate about the hospitality industry with a desire to learn new skills
You will actively demonstrate and promote teamwork through effective communication with your team.
An understanding of health, safety and food hygiene.
