People and Culture Advisor – The Carnegie Club, Skibo Castle, Dornoch

Salary: £32,000 + service charge + gratuities (see below for details)

People and Culture at Skibo

  • With 20 different departments, the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle employs some 250 team members with diverse skills ranging from stonemasonry to housekeeping to spa therapy.

About the role

  • As a position with people at its core, your role will be incredibly dynamic and see you doing different things and meeting with different team members every day.
  • Working with the People and Culture (P&C) Partner, you’ll act as the first point of contact for all HR queries ensuring that a top quality, timely and responsive service is delivered.
  • You’ll ensure that we are fully compliant on all Right to Work, PVG and Driving Licence checks across the Estate.
  • Supporting the Head of P&C and the P&C Partner, you’ll coordinate and provide relevant and innovative learning and development solutions, helping us develop policies and procedures that meet legal guidelines and best practice.
  • You’ll complete the monthly payroll submission for monthly and hourly paid employees to Moorepay’s bureau service, also submitting the Auto-Enrolment data to The People’s Partnership and ensuring pension deductions and memberships are accurate within Moorepay.
  • You’ll manage a wide range of Employee Relations cases, assisting staff members across departments with a variety of issues.

Who we are looking for

  • You’re a self-starter with an enthusiastic, patient, and flexible approach to work.
  • A genuine passion to make a difference will see you thrive in this role, and you take pleasure in problem solving and helping others.
  • Proven experience in an HR function with a solid understanding of Employment legislation and Employee Relations is essential, and you’re either CIPD qualified or working towards a CIPD accreditation.
  • You’re detail-oriented, highly organised, and have the numerical skills to produce reports and submit payroll accurately and on time.
  • As a flexible team player with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively, you can work at pace and enjoy what you do!
  • You have experience working with highly sensitive data and information in a confidential manner.
  • You’re capable of using your oral and written communication skills to support and influence people at all levels with confidence, translate complex situations into easily understandable terms, and manage a wide range of Employee Relations cases.

About gratuities & service charge

Gratuities (tips) and service charge (an additional charge added to room rates and other services at the Club that is passed directly to staff) are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role. It is estimated that in 2024, full-time staff can expect to receive around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary.
