Job Overview

As a Project Manager within Berkshire Engineering, you will play a vital role in the running of our operation and projects in the Nuclear Decommissioning and Manufacturing industries. You will be responsible for managing new and ongoing projects and this role will involve managerial, technical, organisational and communication skills. 

As part of our growing operation, you should be excited about the opportunity to be involved in the growth of a SME and be able to embrace working on a range of projects – big and small, and for both Clients and internal projects. 

You will report to the Commercial and Projects Director and be responsible for various elements of project management and operations to ensure successful project deliveries.

Location:          Bower, Caithness | Remote (with occasional travel to Bower Site) | Hybrid Remote 

Hours:              Flexible Working with Core Hours (9.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday)  

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in the management of the interface between the client, the project delivery team and senior management.

·        Deliver early project scoping activities (requirements management, optioneering, contract reviews, etc.) 

·        Manage project initiation (execution planning, scope definition, schedule building, financial estimating and forecasting, risk management, quality planning and management etc.).

·        Manage ongoing projects ensuring the delivery team understand cost, schedule, quality, and SHE requirements and reporting on these matters to senior management and the client. 

·        Project reporting using an Earned Value Methodology. 

·        Support to business winning activities and tendering processes.  

·        Management of project sub-contractors and supply chain and overseeing the procurement and contract flow-down process. 

·        Coordination between multidisciplinary design, manufacturing and testing/prototyping teams.

·        Leading project progress meetings and other key project meetings.

 

Requirements

Essential Skills, Experience and Personality

·        Proven ability to plan, manage and control all phases of the project lifecycle – from bidding to contract award/mobilisation, to delivery, to project closeout and completion.  

·        Must be able to work as part of a small company with varying roles, responsibilities and projects, and approach this with an open mind and enthusiasm to be involved in areas that may lie out with traditional Project Management. 

·        Ability to work on own initiative and make key decisions.

·        Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly and manage your own workload. 

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·        Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills. 

·        Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. 

·        Good knowledge in the use of project tools and techniques including Microsoft Project. 

·        Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.

·        Must hold or be able to obtain SC security clearance.

Required Qualifications

Beneficial Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personality

·        Qualified and/or experienced in NEC3 Engineering and Construction contracts/subcontracts. 

·        Experience in the Nuclear Decommissioning Industry. 

·        Experience in or awareness of manufacturing processes including Quality Control and Assurance.
