Base Location: Flexible UK | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ‘home’ location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK.

This role is focused on maximising system capability and efficiency to achieve business goals. The Technology Development Manager will act as the voice of the business within a Distributed Energy Digital team and must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy as well as a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

In this role the individual will support agile delivery having specific experience in energy solutions such as DERMS and VPP understanding the digital platforms business areas unique needs whilst considering customer experience. The role is responsible for developing the solutions for managing, optimising, and integrating existing and future assets. The role will contribute and support the delivery of the technology roadmap enabling a pathway for a digital carbon neutral energy system.

Key Responsibilities will include:

– Technical owner of the associated digital platforms and asset integration and will have a significant role in developing and maintaining the infrastructure of the Enhance capability.

– Establish and execute a vision for the delivery of Energy Management Systems to the business’ key stakeholders and that transforms SSE into a company that differentiates itself through Digital Services.

– Innovate DERMS and other energy management solutions, oversight and architecture that build IP for SSE.

– Generate business efficiencies and value-add from systems and data, finding ways to leverage new or existing technology.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

– Experience of DERMS, VPP and other Energy Management solutions.

– Software lifecycle and product management.

– Knowledge of the Power Industry and relevant Distributed energy assets, markets and technologies.

– Understanding of Battery Energy Storage Operations and Control.

– A professional technical leader with knowledge and experience to develop and deploy best in class technology to underpin the business’ day to day operation of Distributed Assets.

– Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.

– Experience of managing a high performance team.
