Childcare Manager – PPP Wick

We are seeking a talented and experienced Childcare Manager to join our team and help maintain our commitment to excellence. A person who shares our values and will bring their knowledge and can-do approach to not only the Early Learning Centre, but the whole aims of the PPP.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work as an effective member of the PPP Senior Management Team, having lead responsibility for the delivery of high quality, flexible Early Learning and Childcare.
  • To be the registered manager of the Early Learning and Childcare provision in terms of Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) and Care Inspectorate registration.
  • To be responsible for, and to supervise, the day to day management of the Early Learning and Childcare service provided in the PPP.
  • Ensuring the service meets the requirements of the Care Inspectorate as prescribed in the relevant national care standards.
  • To oversee and manage the booking system to ensure that numbers attending and staffing ratios are within the registration requirements at all times.
  • To identify training needs and facilitate training opportunities for all ELC staff.
  • To be responsible for the Early Learning and Childcare budget
  • To maintain, update and implement all policies and procedures as required.
  • To liaise with other agencies and partners as appropriate.

In order to carry out the duties of this post effectively and safely, candidates will be able to provide evidence of the following:

Qualifications and Experience


  • Strong background within childcare, with at least 2 years post practitioner qualification experience
  • Qualified to SCQF Level 7 in Childcare Practice, with the desire and ability to work towards SCQF level 9


  • Qualified to SCQF Level 9 in Childcare Practice

  • Ability to manage competing demands and to assist others in managing theirs.
  • Good verbal, negotiation, presentational and written skills.
  • Good interpersonal and social skills with the ability to relate and communicate with adults and children.
  • Ability to respect confidentiality.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in an emergency ensuring all necessary procedures are followed
  • Ability to support a positive and productive working environment.
  • A “can do“ approach to problem solving.


  • 30 days of annual leave, increasing with tenure to a maximum of 40 days (pro rata)

Working Hours

The childcare manager typically works full-time hours, which may include evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the facility
