Position Overview:

As a Duty Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Ulbster Arms Hotel during both daytime and evening shifts. You’ll be responsible for managing staff, maintaining excellent customer relations, handling administrative tasks such as emails and spreadsheets, coordinating ordering processes and encouraging effective communication throughout the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, during both morning (7am to 3pm) and evening shifts (3pm to midnight +).
  • Supervise and lead our team of hospitality professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, support and training as required.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service, addressing guest inquiries, concerns and feedback promptly and courteously.
  • Handle administrative duties, including email correspondence, spreadsheet recording and phone calls, with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Oversee inventory management and ordering processes to maintain appropriate stock levels, whilst minimising wastage.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork among staff members.
  • Support company policies and procedures, including health and safety, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests and employees.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff and vendors.
  • Strong organisational skills, including time management, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including our online reservations system, emails, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Flexibility to work varying shift patterns, including weekends and public holidays.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
